During the ILTM 22nd edition in Cannes, Carson Glover, Senior Vice-President of The Peninsula Hotels Group shared how successful the recent openings of the London and Istanbul Peninsula properties were. He also unveiled the first ad campaign the company launched in more than 10 years, a campaign featuring portraits of members of staff and their uniqueness.

Founded in Hong Kong by the Kadoorie family, the Peninsula Hotels group has been operating for 95 years and now counts 12 properties - three in Europe, three in the USA and six in Asia. Having opened two of its three European properties in 2023 has been very exciting for the group. Carson Glover proudly unveiled two videos highlighting the features of the new properties in Istanbul and London.

The Peninsula Istanbul, located along the Bosphorus, and right next to the east village and its local shops, counts 177 keys of 22 different room categories across 4 buildings, “making the front desk work very hard!”, joked Mr Glover. As the structure used to be the old ferry cruise ship terminal, it features a Bauhaus design and offers the hotel a signature iconic lobby.
Gallada, the rooftop restaurant and bar run by 2 Michelin-star Chef Fatih Tutak, has been designed to reflect the outdoor lifestyle which Turks are fond of. This also marks the first collaboration with an external chef for the group.

The Peninsula London, which has been 35 years in the making - 25 of which spent looking for the right location - is located in the heart of Hyde Park corner, in the historic Belgravia neighbourhood. Designed by Hopkins Architects, with space and light in mind, the hotel features floor to ceiling windows, a lobby with double height ceiling and a large courtyard, giving a sense of grandiose, reflected in the 190 rooms and suites, with the smallest being 52 square metres. The interior design signed by Peter Marino complements the feeling. On the dining front, Chef Dicky To, who worked at the Peninsula Hong Kong and Paris flagship properties, uses his flair to sublime British. Carson Glover also announced the refurbishment of the Peninsula New York, located on Fifth Avenue and 55th Street. The group has at heart to keep its properties up to date while maintaining the iconic style of its buildings. The work is to be finalised in Sept without closing the property.

Another video, the Vice-President was particularly proud of unveiling, was that of the first brand ad campaign for the group in a decade. Ranking it right up there with the unforgettable Annie Lebowitz Black & White 90’s photoshoot, the video aims to stay true to the group’s culture by focusing on the employees, “because they are at the heart of what we do. What sets us apart is our employees. They are the ones who deliver that guest experience”, boosted Cason Glover.

Guest experience was also a key topic, as the conference gave an opportunity to highlight the 27 years old Peninsula Academy, the programme designed to offer guests experiences for them to enjoy the local culture. In June 2024, this experiential programme will see guests in Paris immerse in Le Mans race via a package to access the race, a helicopter viewing tour, and a culinary experience. Meanwhile, the Peninsula Bangkok will offer very specific and curated experiences across the city to celebrate Bangkok’s 25th anniversary. For those adventures, the group is partnering with expert local organisations.
Art in Resonance, born in 2019, is another initiative aimed at empowering local artistic culture while providing a unique visual experience to guests, visitors, and even passers-by. “We really want Art to support the never fading memories that guests take away with them”, concluded Mr Glover.
