On 13 April, the skyline of Dubai's Palm Jumeirah lit up for the globovision audience. 500 million people around the world watched as Omniyat, one of the emirate's prestigious luxury developers, set three beams of brilliant light to mark the laying of the foundation stone for its newest creation, Orla, Dorchester Collection. Located at the summit of Palm Jumeirah, Orla is a private residence offering exclusive services.
Unique comfort by the ocean
Facing the sea from a privileged position on the palm, Orla, Dorchester Collection will enjoy a spectacular view of the turquoise waters and the skyscrapers of Dubai. "Orla, Dorchester Collection, Dubai, is the culmination of this vision. Located at the top of the Palm Jumeirah crescent, Orla occupies a unique position, fostering a deep connection between space and the environment through its panoramic views of the Dubai skyline and the Arabian Gulf," Mahdi Amjad, founder and executive chairman of Omniyat, tells Le Journal des Palaces.
This 93-unit complex, with its varied layouts, will be designed using noble materials - marble, glass and aluminium - to give it an elegant, modern feel. A place where the interior and exterior blend harmoniously with the shimmering waters of the Persian Gulf and the skyline, allowing visitors to contemplate the sunrise, but also the glow of its last rays, before the star slips behind the horizon.
The flats, true private sanctuaries, some of which will be configured as duplexes, have from two to four bedrooms. They will offer unrivalled comfort that is unique to the destination. Orla's aim is to make daily life easier for its residents, while respecting to the letter all the codes of luxury incorporated into this institution of hospitality. As in the member hotels of the Dorchester Collection, a 24/7 concierge service, a personal valet and porter services will be on hand to help and assist the occupants of these luxury residences.
Natural elements and modern technology at the service of energy consumption
Designed by world-renowned architects Foster + Partners, this prestigious residence will offer a deep connection with its surroundings. Orla, Dorchester Collection will take an environmental approach, maintaining Foster + Partners' design traditions. The firm, founded by Norman Foster, has been a pioneer in sustainability since the 1960s and, in this respect, Orla continues to explore the relationship between working with nature and design innovation.
The elegant architecture and artistic design are based on natural elements, incorporating water features and lush vegetation. Through forward-thinking design, Orla's three towers will be linked together to create a unique and spectacular shape, optimising wind flow to channel cooling breezes towards the residences, while incorporating modern, environmentally sensitive technologies to improve overall energy consumption.
The interiors, designed with a mix of soft brown wood and rose gold, and smart home features will make life easier for the building's residents. Double-height ceilings will accentuate the feeling of space, and kitchens will be fully equipped. Floor-to-ceiling windows with unobstructed views of the sea and the Dubai skyline, as well as spacious terraces, reinforce this feeling of space and freedom.
"Foster + Partners has created a truly unique residential complex that will not only set a new benchmark for luxury design, but will also offer a model for sustainable living in harmony with its context and culture," told Foster + Partners Le Journal des Palaces. "Orla is conceived as a luxury oasis that, like the famous oases of Arab tradition and myth, offers a sanctuary and a place to rest and recharge. Water, the symbol of life and luxury in the desert, is used to unify the project, creating a sustainable design that celebrates both the modern and traditional elements of the Islamic landscape and architecture," continues the architectural firm whose credits include London's 30 St Mary Axe, New York's Hearst Tower, Beijing's international airport and Abu Dhabi's Zayed National Museum.
Penthouses, private pools, cigar lounges and noble materials
The lower levels will be raised above a natural landscape of plantings and pools that will flow beneath the building and cool the entrance areas. On arrival, residents will descend into an exclusive zone and enter luminous atriums that appear to float on water.
Zones dedicated to activity, relaxation, entertainment and work will be combined to offer unrivalled amenities, from sunken spa cabins enveloped by pools of water to a cinema, a cigar lounge and a state-of-the-art business centre. From here, paths will follow the axes of the water through the building, linking the interior to the exterior.
Greenery will envelop these outdoor spaces, from the beach to the building, and will combine with a palette of natural and luxurious materials, made up of white stone and cream-coloured travertine, enhanced by bronze-coloured aluminium elements. "Our philosophy is to create designed spaces that allow residents to live authentically. We welcome the challenge of truly imaginative and innovative design, which constantly challenges the boundaries of form and function," adds Mahdi Amjad.
Among the facilities available to residents of Orla, Dorchester Collection are outdoor infinity pools in each of the three penthouses, in addition to private pools on the flat terraces. A real feat. "The scale of the Orla terraces, with their ten-metre structural overhang, represents a remarkable architectural and structural achievement. The challenge was made all the greater by the commitment to include private swimming pools on many of the balconies and large infinity pools for each of the three spectacular penthouses in the project," adds Foster + Partners.
These unique terraces contribute to the exceptional character of the project. Cantilevered up to ten metres from the building's central structure, these postless terraces will offer each flat an extraordinary outdoor living experience, "unrivalled in any other residential project in Dubai", assures the London-based architectural firm.
Residents will also have access to a Beach Club with a 150-metre white sand beach, a children's playground, a huge indoor swimming pool, a circus studio, parking for 330 vehicles and a pet grooming service.
Delivery scheduled for the end of 2026
"We have also partnered with the renowned Dorchester Collection, which offers the highest standards of exclusive service and takes residential hospitality to an unprecedented level. This elevation of the luxury experience beyond the conventional, coupled with our design philosophy, has enabled Omniyat to redefine the luxury lifestyle," concludes Mahdi Amjad, who has ambitions for further projects to push the boundaries of ultra-luxury living in Dubai.
The lucky owners of Orla, Dorchester Collection, will nevertheless have to be patient to enjoy the amenities offered by this residence like no other: the new jewel of the United Arab Emirates will not be delivered until the fourth quarter of 2026.
